Podcasts, I’m just not that into ‘em.
Often, I’m really interested in what someone has to say about a topic, but then it’s only available in a podcast format. It also seems that a lot more people are jumping on the podcasting bandwagon.
This is often problematic for me because I find it hard to follow along when it’s not in a face to face format. So I’m that much less likely to want to listen to a podcast because of the amount of effort that would require.
Essentially, I’d have to sit there with my eyes closed and do nothing else but focus.
Then, sometimes when I just want an opinion on a very specific topic, I also don’t want to sit through 5-15 minutes of other topics, concentrating, just waiting for the topic I want. This is especially frustrating when I’m not sure what the order of topics is so I can’t even try fast-forwarding.
Lastly, it doesn’t help that I’m extremely ADD and when people don’t get right to the point I tend to lose focus very quickly. This happens a lot more frequently than I’d like, and it’s also aggravating when there’s a lot of stuttering or erm and ums interspersed between words.
Meh. It would be great if podcast makers could also create transcripts. It would also be reaching out to people who might have a hearing disability. However, I don’t think voice identification software is quite that good yet.
